Ram M. Pendyala is the Interim Director of the School of Sustainable Engineering at Arizona State University, where he also serves as a Professor of Transportation Systems, a Senior Sustainability Scientist, and the Director of US Department of Transportation Tier 1 University Transportation Center (UTC). He has been an educator and researcher for more than 25 years, serving on the faculty of the University of South Florida, Georgia Tech, and Arizona State University. He is internationally recognized for his contributions to the fields of transportation systems analysis, demand management and forecasting, and technology impact assessment. He has conducted over $10 million in research for federal, state, and local governments and has served as an advisor to a number of organizations including the World Bank and numerous country governments. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to transportation research and education, he was selected as the 2017 recipient of the S.S. Steinberg Award of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) Research and Education Division. Ramhas published more than 200 refereed papers, has served in major leadership roles for the Transportation Research Board, and is currently an Associate Editor of Transportation Research Part D. He has his PhD and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Davis and his Bachelor’s in civil engineering from the Indian institute of Technology in Chennai, India.
